Based on 431 reviewsCalajanara Restaurant is widely praised for its stunning location and breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast, which significantly enhance the dining experience. Guests consistently highlight the authentic Mediterranean and seafood cuisine featuring fresh, high-quality ingredients, with particular appreciation for dishes like pasta and local produce. The atmosphere is described as calm and inviting, complemented by attentive service. However, some visitors find the food only satisfactory in comparison to the exceptional setting, noting modest portion sizes and pricing that may reflect its tourist appeal. Overall, Calajanara stands out as a picturesque destination offering genuine flavors, ideal for those seeking both scenic beauty and traditional Mediterranean fare.
The food was delicious, we ordered the house red wine which was and Aglianico and it was very enjoyable, and the design, ambience, and views are absolutely breathtaking and unbelievably gorgeous. It was surprisingly and astoundingly gorgeous and in a calm remote location.
Beautiful views, just alright food. Nothing amazing. This restaurant was beautiful and the view was amazing. The food was just alright. Not big portion sizes and prices were in my opinion, a little over priced. I would mention this place seemed like a tourist trap because everyone from tours would stop here. The way I would put it is, you’re paying for the view, not the food. We found a hair in one of the dishes and the server didn’t think it was hair and insisted it came from the basil. We still got it re-made but all the clams were empty and we felt a little ripped off. Overall, not a horrible restaurant but I’d only be recommending for the view. Not the food.
Beautiful restaurant just outside the town of Amalfi. We came by car without a reservation. I recommend arriving right at opening time or booking a specific time in advance. We left around 14:00 and it was already completely full. The pasta and other dishes tasted authentic, amazing, and fresh. The owner even came to greet us at the table the restaurant has been here since 1979 if I remember correctly. The only thing I didn’t really like was the menu on a tablet. I’d love to come back a great experience overall. Parking is available right next to the restaurant. You need to leave your keys at the reception in case they need to move your car. Thank you for the experience.
5 stars across the board! Here’s why… What's not to love about a restaurant overlooking the Amalfi Coast with food that is just as delicious as the views are amazing?! Our faves were the salami board, fried cheese, lamb, lobster, fish dishes, and cheesecake. Please note that their salad, steak, and lemon cake were just OK. Our experienced was further enhanced with the service and warm welcome. Annamarie was polite, attentive, and gave great food and beverage recommendations. They open at 12pm, so plan to stop by around that time if you need a great place to stop for lunch & take gorgeous pics after venturing through Positano. You will be hard pressed to find better food for the price before making to touristy Amalfi town!
A gem in the heart of the Amalfi Coast. We visited Calajanara and it was an unforgettable experience. We ordered a buffalo mozzarella salad with tomatoes, and I’m not exaggerating when I say the tomatoes were a perfect 10: fresh, juicy, and intensely flavorful—local produce treated with care. The pasta was perfectly al dente, just as you’d expect in Italy, and absolutely delicious. The setting is simply magical: panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea, warm and friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere—ideal for enjoying an authentic Mediterranean meal. A perfect spot if you’re in Amalfi, Conca dei Marini, or touring the coast. Excellent value for the location and the quality of the ingredients.
The terrace here looks out across the sea, framed by cliffs, olive trees, and lemons. Local dishes reflect the setting — grilled smoked cheese wrapped in lemon leaves, and a light fritto misto of prawns, squid, and crisp vegetables. Everything was fresh and well-balanced. Service was relaxed, the atmosphere peaceful. It’s a calm and scenic place for seafood near Amalfi, with quiet surroundings and beautiful views. Dining here feels unhurried and genuine, shaped by the landscape as much as the kitchen.
Restaurant with a beautiful view, friendly service and very good food. We went there for dinner a few times and every time it was delicious. We tried shrimp in panko and cheese baked with grilled vegetables as an appetizer, then zucchini pasta with shrimp tartare, seafood pasta, ricotta ravioli, sea bass with vegetables and meatballs. We tried Tiramisu and ice cream for dessert. All the dishes were very tasty and served efficiently. You can book a table to get the best place with a view of the sea.
